Biography:

Early years

Son of the Poltava provincial leader of the nobility, Ivan Mykhailovych Skoropadskyi and Elizaveta Petrivna Tarnovska, Pavlo Skoropadskyi was educated at the school of guards ensigns. From there, on August 7, 1851, he received the rank of cornet and joined the Cavalry Guard Regiment. In 1853, he was promoted to lieutenant.

On June 11, 1858, Skoropadskyi was elected as a candidate for the Poltava Committee for the Improvement of the Life of Landowners. Subsequently, on April 23, 1859, he received the rank of chief of staff, and on October 1, he became a deputy of the Prylutsk Border Mediation Commission. On October 20 of the same year, he was released on indefinite leave. On February 12, 1863, he was assigned to the headquarters of the Caucasian Army of the Russian Empire, where he received the rank of colonel on May 19 of the same year.

Military career

Petro Skoropadskyi, Pavel's father, participated in the military campaigns of the Russian Empire in the Caucasus, for which he was awarded a golden sword with the inscription "For bravery" and the Order of St. Stanislaus, 2nd degree with swords. His contribution to the liberation of the enslaved population was awarded a silver medal.

Since 1865, Skoropadskyi was in retirement and lived in the Safonivka estate of the Putivl district. He actively participated in the public life of Starodubshchyna, holding the position of district marshal. From 1869 to 1885, he was the Starodub district and Chernihiv provincial marshal.

Death

Petro Skoropadskyi died on June 28, 1885. The tombstone on his grave is located in the Haralampiiv Church.
