Biography:
Martyn Pushkar came from the Lubeck nobility, the Pushkar-Resynski family was ennobled during the reign of Sigismund II Augustus. Until 1648, Pushkar was in Zaporozhye. He is mentioned as one of the leaders of the liberation uprising in the sentence "About Khmelnytskyi and Barabash".
In the register of 1649, under the name "Martyn Pushkarenko", he is recorded as a Poltava colonel and is mentioned in the campaign to Zbarazh. Subsequently, he took part in numerous military campaigns, including campaigns on Iasi, Kamianets, Berestechko and others.
After the death of Bohdan Khmelnytskyi and the subsequent actions of Ivan Vyhovskyi, Pushkar took part in the armed opposition. In December 1657, the tsar signed a decree on the submission of Martyn Pushkar to Vyhovsky. In January 1658, the colonel issued a manifesto against this decision. On June 1, 1658, near Poltava, the troops of Vyhovsky and the Crimean Khan defeated Pushkar's forces, and he died in battle.
Commemoration
In Poltava, in 1987, a memorial sign was opened to Martyn Pushkar on Velikotyrnivska Street. There is also Martyna Pushkarya Street in Poltava, and Pushkarska Street in the city of Dnipro.

Martyn Pushkar is mentioned in the first book of the trilogy "Between Two Eagles" by Yaroslava Degtyarenko, entitled "A Worthy Successor".
