Timish Nosach Ivanovich

? - after

Biography:

Tymish Ivanovich Nosach (Shkuratenko, ? — † after 1668) is a Ukrainian statesman and military figure, Oster colonel (1648–1649), Prylutsky colonel (1649–1651), Bratslav colonel (1651–1654), general of the wagon train (1654 –1655, 1656 — 1664), associate of the Hetmans of the Zaporizhzhya Army Bohdan Khmelnytskyi, Ivan Vyhovskyi, Yuriy Khmelnytskyi and Pavel Teteri.

Son of Prylut Colonel Ivan Shkurat. He came from a noble-bourgeois family, which had industries and conducted extensive trade throughout the territory of Ukraine from Lviv to Pryluk.

With the beginning of the national revolution of 1648-1676, together with his father, he joined the Zaporizhzhya Army. According to Volodymyr Kryvosheya, in 1648 he headed the Ostersky regiment. After the abolition of the Ostersky regiment in 1649, instead of his father, he assumed the command of a colonel in the Prylutskyi regiment. After the Battle of Berestets in 1651, in which he took part, he was appointed Bratslav colonel. At the head of the Bratslav regiment, he participated in the campaigns of Tymosh Khmelnytskyi in 1653 on Yasy and Torgovyshche. In April 1654, during the campaign of the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth troops to Uman, he led the successful defense of Bratslav. In May 1654, for his military merits, he was appointed a general guard. With a break in 1655-1656, he held this government until 1664.

In 1659, he headed the embassy to Warsaw to attend the Diet, which was supposed to approve the terms of the Hadiac Treaty of 1658. However, the treaty was approved in a significantly changed form, which caused the loss of power by Hetman Ivan Vyhovsky.

In March 1664, Hetman Pavlo Tetereu was removed from the government of the General Obozny on suspicion of participating in an anti-Hetman conspiracy. However, already in April 1665, Tymish Nosach held the post of executive hetman with a residence in Korsun from Hetman Pavlo Teteri. At that time, the Ukrainian regiments of Ivan Bryukhovetsky, who fought against the Zaporizhzhya Army on the side of the Muscovite Empire, stood in nearby Kanev. During their surprise attack led by Colonel Hryhoriy Gamalia on Korsun, Tymish Nosach was captured. He served his prison term in Siberia.

The government of the new Hetman Pyotr Doroshenko managed to return him to Ukraine. On August 22, 1668, he received an award from the Hetman in Korsun as "an old and honored comrade of the Zaporizhzhya Army." The further fate of Timofey Nosach remains unknown.

Had estates in Kapustyana Dolyna, Cherepina and Derenkovka.
