The works of S. Nalepynska of the 1920s and 1930s impress not only with their talent, but also with their social orientation. The woodcuts "Hunger", "Pacification of Ukraine in 1932" are sharp, political works that show the wandering of Ukrainians under various authorities.

Death

Sofia Nalepynska-Boychuk was arrested on June 12, 1937 (her husband, Mykhailo Boychuk, much earlier - in November 1936). Employees of the NKVD accused her of "being a member of a counter-revolutionary Ukrainian national-fascist organization and carrying out espionage work for the benefit of foreign intelligence."

Sofia Nalepynska-Boychuk did not confirm the charges and did not give a confession to the investigation. She was interrogated by two people at the same time - the head of the III Department of the IV Department (combating anti-Soviet elements) of the UDB of the NKVD, st. Lieutenant Lyfar and the head of the district department, Sergeant Mynenko.

They tortured her for six months, but the Chekists did not get a confession from S. Nalepynska-Boychuk. The charges were drawn up on the basis of witness statements, and already on December 6, 1937, Sofia Oleksandrivna Nalepynska-Boychuk was sentenced to the highest degree of punishment by the decision of the top two.

Sofia Nalepinska-Boychuk was shot on December 11, 1937 in Kyiv. It was rehabilitated in 1988.
