Biography:
Mykhailo Gromyka - an active participant in the liberation war of 1648-1658, a Belotserki colonel.
He came from a well-known family of Ukrainian and Belarusian Orthodox nobility, whose progenitor is considered to be Hryhoriy Isaevich Gromyka, a scribe of the Grand Duchy of Lithuania.
Gromyka took an active part in the Battle of Korsun in 1648, the Battle of Zboriv in 1649, and the Battle of Berestets in 1651. From 1649, he was the Belotserki colonel, replacing I. Girya in this position.
Belonged to the moderate current of the rebel camp, inclined to compromise with the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth. He was the commandant of the Bila Tserkva fortress and participated in the battles with the Polish-Lithuanian army near Bila Tserkva in September 1651. He was also one of the participants in the peace negotiations with the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth, which ended with the conclusion of the Bilotserki Treaty in 1651.
At the behest of Bohdan Khmelnytsky, Gromyka halved the number of Cossack registrants on the territory of the Belotserkiv and Korsun regiments.
Mykhailo Gromyka was killed during the revolt of the Cossacks-"Vypishchik" in Korsun, inspired by former Korsun colonel Lukyan Mozyrei.
