Biography:
Mykhailo Tadeyovych Dubovyk was born on December 29, 1900 in the village of Mezhirych (now Lebedynsky District, Sumy Region). In 1919, he joined the Denikin army, from which he deserted to the Red Army.
In 1921, he graduated from Zaporizhzhya Pedagogical School. After that, he entered the Dnipropetrovsk Institute of Public Education, but did not manage to complete his studies immediately, was expelled in 1924, and then reinstated. In 1927, he completed his studies at the institute. Worked as a teacher and journalist in Dnipropetrovsk and Kyiv periodicals: "Zirka", "Future Change", "Zorya".
Mykhailo Dubovyk was the author of four poetry collections: "Towers", "Competition" (1930), "Heat" (1940), "Crimson November" (1941). Belonged to the "Plow" literary organization.
Arrest and death
On June 25, 1941, Mykhailo Dubovyk was arrested by the Soviet special services and accused of distributing counter-revolutionary, fascist-terrorist letters to Ukrainian writers. He was also accused of participating in 1917 in the "nationalist organization" Prosvita, in which he was engaged in the distribution of literature. Mykhailo denied all the accusations, saying:
I never wrote any anti-Soviet letters and never sent them to anyone. He never belonged to any counter-revolutionary parties and organizations.
Mykhailo Dubovyk was shot on July 7, 1941.
Rehabilitation
Mykhailo Dubovyk was rehabilitated posthumously by the decision of the judicial panel in criminal cases of the Supreme Court of the USSR dated September 28, 1955. In 1957, a collection of poems "Selected Poems" was published.
