Anatolii Diatlov Stepanovich

Biography:

Anatoly Dyatlov was born on March 3, 1931 in the village of Atamanove, East Siberian Territory. He left home at the age of 14. In 1945, he entered the Norilsk Mining and Metallurgical Technical College. From 1953 to 1959, he studied at the Moscow Engineering and Physics Institute, majoring in automation and electronics, which he graduated with honors.

After graduating from the institute, he worked at the shipbuilding plant named after of the Lenin Komsomol in Komsomolsk-on-Amur, where he was engaged in the construction of nuclear reactors. In 1973, he transferred to the Chornobyl NPP, which was under construction at the time.

Accident at Chernobyl NPP

During the accident at the Chornobyl NPP on April 26, 1986, Anatoly Dyatlov received a large dose of radiation - about 550 bers. Together with station director Viktor Bryukhanov and chief engineer Mykola Fomin, he was sentenced to 10 years in a general regime colony under Article 220 Part 2 of the Criminal Code of the Ukrainian SSR. After 4 years, he was released early thanks to the support of Academician Sakharov and other outstanding scientists.

After his release, he was treated at a burn center in Munich. He continued to fight the official version of the causes of the accident, contacting various agencies, including the IAEA.

On December 13, 1995, Anatoly Dyatlov died of a heart attack at the age of 64. Buried at the Forest Cemetery in Kyiv.
