Archive Collaboration Memorandum

On December 22, 2023, a significant event in the field of archival cooperation occurred: an online meeting between Anatoliy Khromov, the Head of the State Archive Service of Ukraine, directors of Ukrainian state archives, and representatives of the Secretariat of the International Council on Archives. Among the latter were present Carlos Serrano Vasquez, Executive Director, and Marianne Deraz, Program Manager.

This meeting symbolized the culmination of the process of signing a Memorandum of Cooperation, which involves the implementation of an ambitious project for digitizing archival documents during periods of armed conflict. The project, supported by the International Council on Archives, is coordinated by Ukrderzharkhiv. Within the framework of this initiative, a guidebook on digitizing archival materials in conditions of armed conflicts has already been developed, and material support in the form of technical equipment is planned for Ukrainian archives.

Important institutions such as the Central State Audiovisual and Electronic Archive, as well as the state archives of Mykolaiv, Kherson, and Chernihiv regions, are involved in the project.
